The Weather Control Panel has a mission to provide northern Indiana, northwest Ohio and southwest Michigan with the most recent weather information. Our main priority is severe weather coverage, which is why you will see severe alerts posted when they are issued. We try to update as much as possible during serious weather situations. We know not all weather is extreme, so we always provide 7-day and 48-hr forecasts on the Forecast page. These are provided for cities around the area. Radar and other maps can help you plan your day.

Severe thunderstorm outbreaks often include large hail, high winds and tornadoes. These events can be extremely dangerous, and could become deadly. We want the next outbreak to be historic--for having the fewest injuries with a large amount of storms...

To do this, we need to prepare the public for threatening weather. During severe weather events, this is what you should expect on this site:

On the side of each page:

• Severe Thunderstorm Warnings
• Flash Flood Warnings
• Severe weather reports
• Severe weather updates from our Twitter feed. (See info below)
• And as always our Severe Weather Level button, linking you to detailed outlook information on the Severe Weather page

At the top of the homepage:

• Tornado Watch notices
• Severe Thunderstorm Watch notices 
• And depending on the situation, a regional radar map showing the greatest risk area for severe storms may be shown.

On the Severe Weather page:

• Tornado Watch areas will be displayed, along with detailed probabilites of tornadoes, hail and wind
• Severe Thunderstorm Watch areas will be displayed, along with detailed probabilites of hail and wind
• As always on this page, you'll find the NWS warning map, severe weather outlook maps, storm-tracker radar, and much more!

After the event, if significant damage was done to the area, we will have an event follow-up news story in the Weather Event page.
